Thanks for taking the time to visit my page!
Every since I was eight years old, I have loved all types of cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) and the ocean.
It all started during a school visit to Windsor Safari Park and being given the opportunity to pat the Orca or Killer Whale called ‘Winnie’ and that was the moment I was hooked! By the way, in no shape or form do I condone cetaceans being kept in captivity, but at the age of eight, I didn't know any better. Please do not support this!
Cetaceans and their conservation are the second biggest passion in my life after my family and I spend much of my free time studying and researching them. I regularly travel all over the world whale watching and I highly recommend this to anyone because once you have seen a wild cetacean your life will be changed forever. For the better I might add!!!!!!!
I am a regular volunteer for WDCS and fundraise and am currently in the process of helping another organisation to hold a ‘Whale Festival’. The Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) is the global voice for cetaceans and their environment and do some amazing work. You can find out more from their website www.wdcs.org.uk.
Using this page, I am hoping to raise funds along with my husband at the ‘Walk for Whales’ in Scarborough on the 10th July 2011 for the third year running to contribute to the ‘Stop Whaling’ fund. Iceland, Norway and Japan are still very much a whaling nation hunting endangered fin whales and minke whale all year round using very barbaric, horrific and inhumane methods. The hunting is unnecessary, cruel and the demand for whale meat is minimal, therefore why do they continue to do it? This is why I am walking for whales, to try and make a difference and give these animals a chance to live in peace and give them the protection they deserve. I am trying to raise awareness through education, so that people know what is happening and that they can make a difference too.
Please do whatever you can to help me raise funds for these amazing, gentle and intelligent animals and I thank you from the bottom of my heart on behalf of our cetaceans friends, but most of all from me for your support.
