Story

FUNDRAISER - WEDNESDAY 18TH APRIL 2018 10AM-2PM

WATTISHAM COMMUNITY CENTER

Cancer, it can happen to anyone.

My name is Emma and I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Not words I ever thought I’d say. I’m 39 years young, a qualified PT & Fitness Instructor
and have been very happily married to the army for over 5 years.

Breast Cancer in younger women is not common, in the UK around 5000 new cases per year in under 45’s.

I’m fit, I train 5 days a week, teach Spin and various group exercise classes. I recently competed in a Fitness Competition and came fourth. I guess what I’m saying is, I look after myself, I’m mindful of what I eat and drink, but it happened to me. I got the dreaded C.

I need to give my cancer a purpose. To raise awareness, help educate people on how to check their bodies, their partners for symptoms and not to be
scared to talk about it.  If it can happen to me, it could happen to any of you.

So here’s the fun bit, together with some truly wonderful friends and family I am putting together a fundraiser at our Wattisham Community Centre
to raise funds and awareness of Breast Cancer.

Our aim is to have a fun family event, with an educational chat from one of the Breast Cancer Charities on how to look for the signs, lots of homemade cake and sandwiches, a raffle which local businesses have already been incredibly generous with donations for prizes and fun things for the children to do.

The support I have received from both the Army and NHS has been incredible. I am truly blessed and very aware of just how lucky I am to live within such a caring community.

The Blossom Appeal has recently been launched with the aim to build a state of the art Breast Care Centre in Ipswich. The new centre will bring all elements of breast care at The Ipswich Hospital under one roof and provide an environment where patients can see their clinician in one appointment.

All YOU have to do is come along and eat cake, drink tea and buy a few raffle tickets.

PLEASE help me to help others!

My name is Hazel and I run Fit4Life, when I first found out that my friend was diagnosed with breast cancer words failed to describe what went through my head as I'm sure anyone who has experienced anything like this can relate.

So a few days passed and the news started to sink in of the journey ahead. So I got thinking lets show cancer how the fight is on with a real MMA inspired cardio workout, we will kick, punch and knee this dreaded illness with a 45 minute workout followed by a good piece of cake (don't worry about the calories, I'll make you earn them)

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO?
Grab your gym kit come and have some fun in an epic 45 minute class, 100% of all funds raise go straight to The Blossom Appeal
