In March 2017 we got the most devastating news to ever happen to our family. That my younger sister Kelly, aged 34 had got cancer. She had had a large lump at the side of her stomach for a few weeks but just assumed it was something and nothing. She went to the doctors who referred her straight to the hospital! After 2 weeks she was allowed to go home awaiting results, I was convinced she'd be fine and it would be nothing. 

We were then told it was cancer, but they couldn't determine what cancer it was. However it mostly resembled Ewings sarcoma which is a rare cancer but mainly found in children and young adults. Therefore Kelly was sent to the Teenage Cancer Trust ward at Leeds hospital, she never came home.

Sadly after a huge amount of chemo Kelly sadly passed away on 31st May 2017, leaving behind her 2 sons aged 4 & 11yrs. We had exactly 7 weeks from her first going to hospital to her passing away. It was the most traumatic time of my life and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The only saving grace was that she was on the Teenage Cancer Trust ward which was a lovely ward as they are used to dealing with children and young adults. The nurses there were absolutely amazing, 1 inparticular that we all loved, especially Kelly and her name was Laura. A shining star on our darkest of days!!

Therefore it means the absolute world to me that I have been chosen by Teenage Cancer Trust to run the London Marathon for their charity and more importantly in Kelly's name. I hope I do her proud 💗

Sadly on 23/10/23 my son's beautiful girlfriend Ellie lost her dad to the same horrible disease, therefore I will also be running this marathon in his memory 💙
