Story
In 2019 my godmother and her family lost their beautiful daughter, Zoë Bromfield. After complaining of tonsillitis for several days, Zoë
was sent to hospital A&E for an abscess on her tonsils (a quinsy) to be treated. While there she collapsed and fell into a coma. It transpired that her collapse was the result of a brain haemorrhage caused by an acute and previously undetected leukaemia. She was admitted to intensive care but died 25 days later without ever having recovered consciousness. She was 26.
My grandfather Gerald Dennis, an incredibly fit and youthful man, was diagnosed with leukaemia in August 2002 whilst on holiday. He was flown home by air ambulance and started chemotherapy straight away. He was told he had just three weeks to live but survived until January 2003, long enough to meet his new granddaughter who was two weeks old. Sadly, he never got to meet his youngest grandchild, my sister Katie. He was 68.
I'm raising money for Blood Cancer by running the London Marathon in October. I am no natural runner and am currently working through some hip and hamstring injuries but am determined to make it to the finish line! Any donations, great or small would be enormously appreciated.
Love
