Story
I was very close to my Nan - she used to pick me up from nursery and sing "You are my sunshine" to me. I spent a lot of my childhood at my Nan and Gramps house - we even went on holidays together. I remember doing "the Birdie song" with my Nan at Butlins with the Red Coats! My Nan died of pancreatic cancer when I was 17. I loved her and miss her every day.
I now work for the East Midlands Cancer Network who are doing incredible work in this area - to improve patient experience and outcomes. So many people are affected by cancer - if we can make a difference to even one life, it is a job worth doing - to diagnose people earlier and to help save lives.
A lot has changed for the better in the last 23 years - imagine what we could achieve in the next 23.
