At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I DID IT!!!!!

So... Yesterday I ran the Derby Ramathon half marathon!!! It was an excellent day, so well organised, and the support from the crowds was amazing!! I managed a respectable time of 2:06:00, even though I was injured during training and the injury also flared up 3 miles in!! Seriously suffering today, after a trip to A&E to be told I have ligament damage in my foot I am now resting it (for 8 weeks)... Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me through training (Katie & Polly) and sponsorship, and also to those who came to cheer me on at Elvaston Castle yesterday. Cannot thank you all enough, wouldn't have been able to do it without you all.

A Little update...

Nan sadly passed away on Thursday May 8th 2014, my family and I was with her when she passed relatively peacefully. Nan was a fighter right through to the end, and that will motivate me to reach the finish line. On Saturday I hit double figures with my miles, I reached 10! Just 3.1 miles to add on and a little more pace.

Training

Today, April 13th 2014, I have run 7 miles in 1 hour & 4 mins, I now have 8 weeks till Ramathon, not long I know! Your donations no matter how big or small will really help keep me motivated through the next 8 weeks of training. Anyone who would like to witness this one-off event (me running a half marathon) is more than welcome to come along and cheer me along.

Why am I doing this?

For those of you who know me well, you will know that my Nan has suffered for almost 4 years with Dementia, the effect the Dementia has had on my Nan and my family is incredibly hard to put into words, so I won't even try. Dementia is a cruel illness and it affects so many people, 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 will die with Dementia. Please help me raise money to fund research and provide help to people affected by Dementia.
