Story

I am running the Selsdon Half Marathon for Bromley Y (aka Bromley Community Wellbeing), a charity which provides free counselling for children and young people in the borough of Bromley. I used their service myself when I began my journey of getting help for depression, anxiety and an eating disorder when I was 16 and received the best care there. At an extremely vulnerable time in my life, I found that Bromley Y was a safe space where I felt heard, understood and was never judged. During the time I was there, I went from being fragments of the person my friends loved to feeling more confident and hopeful. Although I still had a long journey ahead of me, working with my amazing therapist and what I achieved gave me a taste of the life I could have back if I worked hard in recovery.

Thousands of people go through a mental illness and suffer in silence, which, I eventually learned myself, is the worst thing you could do. Bromley Y helps so many young people every year and I am constantly in awe of the work they do.

I am SO excited to give back and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to raise money for this service, as well as the opportunity to speak up and fight the stigma around mental illness. Please sponsor me - any amount of money is really appreciated and goes to such an amazing charity which is honestly second to gold!
