Emma & James.... Fighting for every heartbeat and mending broken hearts....

Bupa Great North Run 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·
I am not a natural runner but I am training for a half marathon in September which means training 4+ times a week in order to mange to run the whole 13.1miles and raise lots of money too! It's not a one day event but months of training to run this so please sponsor me in order to help the BHF!!!
So what has inspired me to run the Great North Run..
My father has never smoked and lives a healthy lifestyle but February 2013, at just 57 he suffered a heart attack and he required a triple heart bypass and it was deemed to be so serious he would not be allowed home until the surgery was completed which meant a month in hospital and after the surgery months of rehabilitation, and now a lifetime of drugs, but he was lucky, he is fine and feels stronger than ever. However this is not the case for everyone...
1. Coronary Heart Disease is the UK's single biggest killer.
2. Every seven minutes someone dies of a heart attack in the UK.
3. One in three people who have a heart attack die before reaching hospital.
The British Heart Foundation do amazing work in supporting and educating people with heart conditions and those who have had a heart attack as well as lots of research into cures and treatments and raising awareness of heart health.
