Thank you for visiting my page!
Credit Suisse have won the Enduro Challenge for the fifth time!
This year’s race, which took place August 27-29, was the most exciting to take place in the six year history of the Enduro Challenge. Credit Suisse finished first in the 150 km run from the of to and achieved their fastest time ever arriving in in just 9 hours and 15 minutes, establishing a 16 minute lead over their nearest rival.
In a dramatic twist, Deutsche Bank and UBS were unable to complete the 40 km swim from Dover to Calais, disqualifying their respective entries from the 2010 competition. In rough seas and battling a fast current that could have swept the swimmers up the Channel towards Belgium, Team Captain Ben Jervis underwent a mental and physical effort to reach Cap Gris Nez, while increasingly vocal support was offered by team members from the support boat and support crew watching nervously from the cliffs above.
Despite losing some time during the swim, the Credit Suisse push on the 300 km cycle from Calais to Paris proved decisive. The team arrived at the Eiffel Tower in Paris scoring a winning time of 30 hours exactly, ahead of the City All Star team who ranked second with a time of 30 hours and 37 minutes and Barclays Capital who ranked in third position with a time of 31 hours and 19 minutes.
-------------------------------------------------
On the 27th August 2010, myself and 5 colleagues from Credit Suisse will run, swim and cycle from London to Paris to raise money for Alzheimer's Society. The event involves a 90 mile run to Dover, a 30 mile swim to Calais and a 180 mile cycle to Paris. The Enduro Challenge is a relay race with each person taking it in turns approx. every hour - we will race continuously and hope to arrive in Paris in approximately 30 hours. To add to the challenge we will be competing against rival teams from other banks including Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank and UBS!
Let me give you a few reasons to make your donation as generous as you possibly can:
- 1 in 3 people over 65 will die with dementia. It's a scary stat - scary for all of us as it could be our grandparents, or moving forward our parents, siblings, partners, friends or ourselves. So if you don't support Alzheimer's Society for me or for a loved one then do it for your future self.
- The Alzheimer's Society fights for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through branches, they touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers.
- Alzheimer's is a progressive disease, which means that gradually over time, more parts of the brain are damaged and as this happens, the symptoms become more severe. In later stages, the person affected will have problems carrying out even the smallest everyday tasks and become increasingly dependent on other people.
- There is currently no cure for dementia or its related diseases.
