The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £5m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

I have taken on the Cycletta challenge to cycle 80k around the counrtyside of the New Forest in October in aid of The Hospice of St Francis.  This challenge was taken on for a number of reasons...

1) I have fantastic friends who do amazing work at the Hospice of St Francis, they dedicate every day to making a dreadful situation better for someone and they truly are angels in disguise.
2) I desperately need to get fit
3) At the age of 40 I felt I needed to take on at least one challenge in my life and my 'upper body' doesn't lend itself to running a marathon, this is something that needs training and rather a lot of determination but is within my reach (I hope!)
4) I was drunk when I said yes.

Not to make too light of the cause a quick note about the Hospice for those of you lucky enough not to have had some sort of experience of it.  It is the only inpatient facility with specialist facilities in this area providing in and out patient care for people with serious or terminal illness. Many of their patients have cancer but they also look after those with heart, lung and/or kidney disease and neurological disease, as well as cancer.

I couldn't think of a better place for me to raise money for and I hope you agree.  So, you know what to do...
