Eugene's Red Run 2022

RED RUN 2022 · 26 November 2022 ·
I was diagnosed with HIV in 2013. During the next 5 years, I became increasingly isolated, depressed and anxious due to the shame and stigma I felt.
I became dependent on increasing amounts of drugs & alcohol and stopped being able to function at work and in society.
In 2018, I received free counselling from the Terrence Higgins Trust, which helped me turn my life around.
Since then, I’ve been volunteering and fundraising as a way of giving back. I volunteer on the THT Direct helpline and now work for THT running the Positive Voices programme. We are people with HIV who go into schools, workplaces and community organisations and speak to a wide range of people, including young people, health & care professionals and policymakers to raise awareness of HIV and HIV stigma and encourage people to test and know the facts.
I did 5k in the Red Run in 2018 and 2021. This year I’m taking on 10k for the first time and have been training hard all year to achieve this in under 50 minutes.
Please give generously to allow THT to continue our vital work.
I'm taking on the World AIDS Day RED RUN 2022 to raise funds for the Terrence Higgins Trust!Terrence Higgins Trust are proud to have been supporting people living with HIV since 1982 - it's always been the heart of what they do. Today we need your support to end new cases of HIV in the UK, and to fight stigma and support those living with HIV.Just £150 could fund 14 HIV self-tests so people can know their status sooner and get the medication and support they need to live healthy lives, 6 weeks training for 5 THT Direct volunteers to keep our support lines open, or 84 hours of online counselling to support people affected by HIV.
