I am running the Torbay Half Marathon on September 12th 2021 and then the Bournemouth Half Marathon on October 10th 2021. My parents love to run, both determined to do the Parkrun every Saturday even when visiting me at uni or waking up at 5am to drive to one. Their passion for running and the effect it has had on all aspects of their health inspired me to start running myself. During the first lockdown I would run around the same park five times everyday - being able to run and push my body kept me going. Running has provided me with such joy, freedom and pride in what my body is capable of.

Back in 2016, my mum started to receive support from Force Cancer Charity whilst visiting Exeter for her cancer treatment. Force not only supported my mum but were also there for me. They helped me to take time to look after myself and they gave me peace of mind with how they cared about my mum. I am thankful everyday to still have my mum and best friend in my life.

Running these two Half Marathons feels like a celebration of my mum and her health (especially since I'm running the Torbay Half Marathon with my parents!) And so, I want to use this experience as an opportunity to raise money so Force can continue to support people who's lives are impacted by cancer.
