Update: 

Well we’re pleased to say that the rectal washouts gave it a good crack (pun intended) and managed to claim some silverware in the process! Yep…despite all the odds and being the least trained team against some quite stiff competition, the washouts came through (or is it flushed out??), with the second fastest time of the day, passed through the heats into the final, and then claimed the silver medal!

Lots of fun was had and best of all we are all so grateful to all our supporters who have so generously donated to PLANETS!

Background:

We are a team of hospital staff who come together to conduct some of the most complex of cancer operations on patients from throughout the Wessex area and sometimes farther afield, and we are racing in the Poole Park Dragon Boat challenge!

This will involve an intense rowing challenge across Poole Park in dragon boats. 

Were hoping to raise money for PLANETS CANCER CHARITY, a charity who we feel strongly about and whose work is daily impacting the lives of patients young and old that we treat in our day to day work.

Through their amazing work, PLANETS have raised funds for all manner of items and events that have improved the lives of cancer patients in Wessex, and in many cases offered life saving UK-first treatments for them. 

Were not very fit (generally), and the boat may sink.....but were determined to give it a hearty go and support this valuable charity and their work. 

Your money simply could not go to a better charity and a more worthy cause.  

Hopefully with the funds raised we can help even more patients and in particular for the complex abdominal and pelvic cancers we deal with.
