Story

“I know” said Kate, “let’s hold a fête!” So that’s what we’re doing! It’s here at Rocket Park on Saturday August 14th 2010 and will be a family fun day for all to enjoy! The idea came about when we were discussing a charity fundraiser as part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations. We’d been offered £50 by Keech Hospice Care in Luton as part of their Accumulator Challenge. The idea is that companies in the area are given £50 courtesy of NatWest Bank and the challenge is to turn it into as much money as you can. So we thought what can we do to turn this into £500, or maybe more? Many ideas were discussed, but the suggestion of an FF summer fête won the day.

Kate, Hayley & Tom volunteered to organise it and have been working very hard on all the preparations over the last few weeks. We now can't wait to welcome all our Firers, their families & friends on the day itself to join in the fun! (Well-behaved four legged friends are welcome too).

Among the attractions we have in store for you are a BBQ, a Bar, Bouncy Castle, a Raffle, Cake Stall, Home & Garden Produce Stall, a Tombola, Ice-Cream Van, ‘Best In Show’ competitions (please bring along pretty pooches!), a Bric 'A' Brac stall, Coconut Shy, Splat the Rat, Stocks, Tug of War, Wacky Races and so much more! Entry is free and we’ll be ready to welcome you from 2pm.

Any items you could bring along on the day for the raffle will be gladly received, so please dig around in your cupboards for those unwanted presents/bottles we all collect over the years! For the Jamie Olivers & Nigella's amongst us who could rustle up a cake or jar of jam for our home produce stall, we would be eternally grateful! It will all go such a long way to help us reach our target! :o)

If you would like to have your own stall on the day please get in touch - our only condition is that you kindly donate 20% of your profit to this amazing charity.

We have been issuing tickets so we have some idea of the numbers we need to cater for, but there will also be spare tickets left at the gate on the day. So please do feel free to come along on the spur of the moment!

For those who can't make it on the day, we hope you will be able to support our event through this JustGiving fundraising page instead. (Or even if you are coming and would just like to donate a little extra!). This is the first big FF social event of the year, and we would love for our wonderful Firing community to get behind it as much as possible.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
