London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
I have decided to take on the challenge of running the London Marathon in 2024 for my dad, who got diagnosed with coronary heart disease earlier this year, which resulted in him having triple bypass surgery.
Anyone who knows my dad will know he’s a fit and healthy man but was having to stop when going on walks due to chest pains. Despite going to the doctors this was unfortunately missed - one day the pain got so severe he took himself to A&E and thank god he did! My dad had 3 blocked arteries, was kept in hospital on medication and had his operation within 2 weeks. After his operation the surgeon said he could’ve had a heart attack at any moment and due to the way his main artery was blocked it would’ve been fatal.
I am so grateful that my dad is still recovering well and that he is still here with us but if he hadn’t taken himself to A&E that day we might not be in the same position.
I am therefore running for Heart Research UK, watching my dad go through what he did was really hard and I hope we can do more in the future to prevent. #TeamHRUK are raising funds to support Heart Research UK to fund pioneering research and education projects into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart diseases.
There is no doubt this is going to be a HUGE challenge for me - thank you so much for donating, it means the world!
