Frankie's Summer Challenge for Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity

Kids Summer Challenge (31 Miles in August) · 1 August 2025 to 31 August 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

Frankie has chosen to take part in the Kids Summer Challenge to support Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity. He will be swimming 31 miles in August - that's a massive 2,000 lengths of a 25m swimming pool!

As a lot of you will know, our journey with Birmingham Children's Hospital began in 2021 when Frankie's younger brother, Bodhi, was born with a rare and complex congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Although Bodhi's heart cannot be 'fixed', he is on a palliative surgical pathway that we hope will give him the best quality of life and maximise our time together as a family.

Bodhi has undergone two open heart surgeries at Birmingham Children's Hospital so far with another likely to take place within the next year.

As a family, we are incredibly grateful to Birmingham Children's Hospital for everything they've done and continue to do for Bodhi. Frankie is a very proud big brother and very much looking forward to making Bodhi proud of him 💙
