On 18th January, aged just 30 years old, I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.
Stage 4 meant it had spread out with my pelvis and was now in both of my ovaries, on my womb, my peritoneum (the membrane that surrounds and keeps my organs in place) and my omentum (the fatty membrane that covers the front of my bowel).
I started my chemotherapy in February 2016 and, although I can expect a long journey ahead of me, as always, I feel nothing but positivity and happiness towards my health and life and know I will have many loved ones cheering me on!
Since then I have also had a major operation, lasting 11 hours:-
They conducted a complete hysterectomy – removing my cervix, womb, ovaries and right fallopian tube (I only had one prior to surgery due to a previous operation)
They had removed my omentum
They had removed my appendix
They had removed my spleen
They had removed part of my colon
They had removed part of my liver
They had removed part of my diaphragm
They had removed part of my pancreas
But, most importantly:
They had removed all visible disease!!

Since my diagnosis, with the help of my family and friends, I have raised over 11k for Macmillan, Cancer Research UK and Ovarian Cancer Research.
I write an honest blog about my cancer journey in hope of offering inspiration and comfort to other cancer patients going through a similar journey.
This blog has been picked up by the Huffington Post, Macmillan Cancer Support, Ovarian Cancer Action, Women's Health and many others. I post personal and invasive photographs and videos all to raise awareness in the toughest times during my cancer journey so that others may feel less alone on theirs.
I have also conducted local radio interviews and shared my story in the press.
HOWEVER I still need your help:
I want to help other women with ovarian cancer get diagnosed sooner.
They call ovarian cancer the silent killer. This is because the symptoms are so subtle that they can often be ignored. But, have hope, you can look out for them:
1. increased abdominal size and persistent bloating (not bloating that comes and goes)
2. persistent pelvic and abdominal pain
3. difficulty eating and feeling full quickly, or feeling nauseous
If any or all of these are present, please go to your GP. You’re not wasting their time. You are being proactive about your health and your future.
I want to raise awareness with as many women as possible. Together we can fight cancer and stop it in its tracks. So please share my story, share the symptoms and listen to your body! If I can help just one woman get diagnosed early then my illness has served a positive outcome and that will give me more strength and positivity to recover.
My aim whilst on my cancer journey is to ensure that as much positivity can come from my experience as possible. Thank you for your love and support in helping me to achieve my aim.
