Story

After 40 years in Commercial Insurance, Finlay Smith is announcing his retirement.

Many of you will know Fin from his time in London both with RSA and QBE, and over many years he has built a reputation based on not only high capability, but also as a person of integrity and warmth; liked, respected and admired by his many friends in the industry.

As a tribute to Fin, members of the GRS Leadership Team are embarking on a personal challenge, to scale the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in a fundraising effort for Home Group.

Fin has chosen Home Group for its works in supporting the victims of domestic abuse. Last year in the UK it was recorded an estimated 2 million adults experience domestic abuse. It is estimated there are thousands more abuse cases that were not reported. for many victims, abuse is tolerated because they feel they have no choice; Nowhere to run, and no alternative. Home Group works with abuse victims to ensure that all victims have a viable, safe and secure environment to live without fear.

Unfortunately Fin found out about Home Group because his step-daughter endured 2 years with an abusive partner before she was able to find the courage to leave. She was lucky that she had a family unit to support her and provide a safe refuge; but many do not and Home Group want to provide safety, comfort and care for every victim.
