Story
“Diva's For Dementia" is the analogous bookend to "Mums Washing Up Songs" Sung in memory of my late mum who experienced dementia at just age 48.
Thank you so much for visiting this page and I hope you will consider supporting my ongoing cause and will buy this second album too?
Pop it on your shelf and of course take it out to listen to from time to time in the joy that you are supporting great research at Alzheimer's Research UK. (ARUK)
I am eternally grateful to you.
ARUK will find a cure for the diseases that cause dementia. Every penny helps!
Inspired by your genuine and heartfelt support of “Mum’s Washing Up Songs"
I wanted to create something that resonates with Mum's generation while bringing some of the divas that have survived her but have some how crossed over and adapted to be part of today’s world.
I don't expect Etta ever dreamed she would be helping us take that "Diet Coke Break" if you catch my drift?!
My choices mark my journey from singing along with her to loosing her and to this present day.
From Big "Shirl" pink styles, through Etta, Dinah and the generational adapting gurus of Cher, Tina & "Babs", to new Lady Gaga parallels those "Star's that have been born."
When MacArthur Park was melting in the dark, to my mum's horror, friends and I were disco dancing, while spinning her best tea towels during our teenage " happy hairbrush diva moments"
Later, the contemporary rock chicks of the 1980s were voices that picked up the pieces of my heart after mum left us in 1985. That said …
Here are some of her favourite Divas and some of mine. Some of them have journeyed with me for over 5 decades and I know have made happy memories and brought joy to each generation. That's my hope for you and yours if you have been touched by the devastation of this disease.
We are not without hope; we have come so far since those early diagnoses. Awareness and appropriate care, education and research are ongoing.
From her era to ours, music memory is so significant that it transcends time and can bring the soul to life even while the mind is suffering.
Thank you again to all of yous out there! The “Diva's at heart” and the El Divo’s too !! Play the music LOUD sing along LOUDLY and make happy memories!
Much love and thanks to you all x x 🎶✨💫
