Help a Capital Child is proud to announce its new name: Make Some Noise – we will help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Thanks to your support, we have grown over the years and we will continue to help those affected by illness, disability, bereavement or lack of opportunity.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I Completed my skydive on the 7th January and it was amazing, a huge thank you to all who sponsored me :)
Hello everyone, yet again my skydive was cancelled on the 10th December due to weather conditions :( but i have rescheduled it for the 7th of January 2012 which gives me a little bit of extra time for fundraising, hopefully this time (fingers crossed) the weather is kind.
About Help a Capital Child
The charity, Help a Capital Child, was set up in 1975 to help disadvantaged young people in our local areas. We support children and young people affected by abuse, homelessness, disability, poverty and illness.
This year in Scotland we’re focusing our support on illness and the money that you help us to raise will fund specialist hospital units and care for young people with cancer.
When you’re a teenager, life should be all about hanging out with your mates, going to gigs and experiencing whatever life has to offer for the first time. But for six teenagers a day, life changes overnight when they are told they have cancer. Usually placed on a children’s ward or with elderly patients, young people often feel isolated when they have cancer, never meeting anyone else going through the same thing.
This is why we’ll be helping to a new unit at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh and care for young people at units in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children (Yorkhill) and Beaston West Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow. Together, these three units will have over 1,000 patient stays a year. We want to help make sure that cancer doesn’t stop these teenagers in their tracks and that they are given the best possible quality of life and chances of survival.
You may have heard all about Jenny’s skydive – now its Fifi’s turn!
I will jump strapped to a professional instructor from 10,000 feet, freefall at up to 120mph until our parachute opens at 5000 feet where I will enjoy effortlessly gliding through the air, and slowly descending back to earth!
Some people say I'm mad, others say I am brave, I say I'm not as brave as the kids I'm doing this fundraising for.
