Fiona's 500 mile WALK FOR PEACE

500 mile walk for peace · 6 May 2017
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. We need to help the worsening situation in Yemen. I am deeply saddened and ashamed that our country continues to make money selling arms to Saudi Arabia and across the middle east.
I am asking for you to sponsor me to walk 500 miles over the next 12 months starting in Christian Aid week and ending on 19.05.18. The money you donate will go direct to the DEC Yemen Crisis Appeal the same week you make the donation.
As I walk I will be praying;
that our government considers its human rights policies and stops selling arms,
that the ports are opened in Yemen so aid can get to those who desperately need it,
that peace descends in Yemen so that the people can rebuild their lives and children know a proper childhood free of missiles and hunger,
that God is with them all to help them through the darkest times and give them hope for a better future.
Join me and pledge to WALK FOR PEACE, maybe a 10 or 20 mile sponsored walk which can then be donated here. Lets make it a 1000 mile walk in total! Contact me for WALK FOR PEACE IN YEMEN sponsorship forms.
If you aren't able to then please do still donate. This is why;
Two years of conflict have pushed Yemen, already one of the world’s poorest countries, to breaking point. Half of the population – 14 million people – is going hungry and needs help before it’s too late. A child is dying every 10 minutes because of preventable diseases and child malnutrition is at an all-time high.
In December, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), of which Christian Aid is a member, launched an emergency appeal for people facing hunger in Yemen. This raised an amazing £17 million.
Together, DEC member charities are already reaching millions of people across the country with life-saving aid, including food and treatment for malnutrition. These funds will help that work to continue, but much more needs to be done to help those in dire need.
Through the funds raised Christian Aid will be supporting the work of Action Against Hunger (ACF), who have been working in Yemen since 2012, treating malnourished children and improving families’ access to food.
We will be supporting an ACF project helping those most at risk of malnutrition - under-fives, pregnant and breastfeeding women. The project aims to prevent acute malnutrition through targeted supplementary feeding.
