In 1946 The Loughborough College Film Society was launched, in 1975 the society became Filmsoc and it has since been renamed Flix. Over the years Flix has grown beyond recognition and now boasts audiences of 15,000 per year. However, the rapid growth in the use of digital media poses a real threat to independant cinemas like Flix, who lack the big budgets and spending power of the large cinema chains.

Loughborough Students' Union Cinema has always been able to offer a varied schedule of modern, art house and international films. I'm sure you'll agree it must stay that way. If they are to continue to show such a vaired schedule of flms including the latest and greatest Hollywood blockbusters they must purchase a Cinema Digital Projector. http://flix.org.uk/projector/

But to do this, Flix needs your help.

This technology is unquestionably expensive, even for such a large and capable Students' Union as Loughborough's. With that in mind I need to ask; please will you give £25 to help Flix move into the digital era and stay open for all.

There is an urgency attached to my request. The society has been given the opportunity to purchase the equipment they need through the Digital Funding Partnership due to a special offer that reduces the cost to £11,500. However to take advantage of this opportunity Flix must have the funding in place before the end of March.
