Mental health issues... what are they?
To quote the charity Mind - 'Mental health problems can affect the way you think, feel and behave. They affect around one in four people in Britain, and range from common mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety, to more rare problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. A mental health problem can feel just as bad, or worse, as any other physical illness – only you cannot see it.'
Why am I running in aid of Mind?
To be honest sometimes I do wonder why I'm running a half marathon, I don't like running up the stairs most days...
Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.
Mental health issues don't just disappear overnight, they take time and lots of work to to combat but with the right support and guidance from people who really do care, mental health issues such as anxiety and panic attacks do not have to rule a persons life.
