Our NHS is amazing and although I don't have to use it very often, thankfully, it was there for me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2015. The doctors and nurses were amazing and my treatment started within weeks of my diagnosis. Don't get me wrong it was tough going; but with the care, I received from our NHS, and the love and support of my family and friends, I made it through 6 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 mastectomies,15 rounds of radiotherapy, and Tamoxifen. Five and a half years ago I received the all-clear and I am now fit and healthy. I am raising money for the Chemotherapy Unit of County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust, to support others in my situation and also the staff who are helping them through a difficult period in their lives.
