Story
Hi there!
This year I plan to face a few challenges in order to raise money for Alzheimer's Society in memory of my Nan, who unfortunately suffered with dementia.
There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051. 225,000 people will develop dementia this year - that is 3 people every minute.
At this moment, there is no cure for Alzheimer's disease or any other type of dementia. Five times fewer researchers choose to work on dementia than on cancer.
£40 would pay for five people with dementia to attend a Singing for the Brain session - a fun activity that enhances wellbeing and connection through music.
£150 would pay for one of our National Dementia Helpline Advisors to provide 10 hours of crucial support to people affected by dementia.
£610 would pay for a Doctoral Training Centre to run for one day, helping up to 8 PhD researchers to carry out ground breaking study in dementia research.
Also, whilst I take part in some tough challenges (and some more baking-themed), please download the below game app - it's free and it helps for research for dementia: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/sea-hero-quest/id1034383306?mt=8
