Story
On the 13th August we'll be swimming to the Isle of White from Portsmouth
Why we have taken up this challenge?
In December 2012 Francis broke his back and after a lot of physio to get him back on his feet, swimming was the only exercise that would continue to aid his recovery.
Since then we have completed the London Triathlon and more recently, a relay crossing of the Channel. The experience was amazing and your generous support really made a difference. We are not stopping there and have instead decided to take on a solo swim. This is a longer distance swim than any part of our relay channel swim, the water will be colder and the currents far stronger. We would like to continue to take part in events to help raise money for Aspire, a wonderful charity which supports people living with spinal cord injuries.
The swim takes place in a very busy shipping lane and we will be dodging ferries, hovercraft and pleasure boats. The currents are both strong and complex and we will have to keep up a good speed throughout the swim to avoid having to swim to France again!!
This will be a huge challenge for us; The training continues to be intense and we would really appreciate all your love, support and sponsorship.
