Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

1 in  8 men will get prostate cancer.

A close relative recently had a PSA check (he had no symptoms) and was found to have prostate cancer. Fortunately he was in a position to be operated on and within 3 weeks had it removed. We now have to wait to see if it has been contained.

A close friend age 61 has also recently been diagnosed with Prostate cancer and is waiting for treatment while yet Another friend I had was not so lucky after being diagnosed late on he eventually died a few years ago aged 62.

My wife Sue has also entered the challenge to raise money for breast cancer. We know far too many ladies who have been diagnosed with this over the last 3  years.

We applied to take part in the TGO challenge and were lucky to be accepted. We are planning a route from Shiel Bridge in the Highlands on the West coast to walk 210 miles across Scotland to finish on the East coast at St Cyrus, just north of Montrose. This is a serious undertaking over two weeks which involves much planning and training. We feel our chosen charities far outweigh the hardship and risk we will be taking to raise money for two extremely worthwhile causes.
