Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.

Story

Freddie is our newborn premature baby boy, born Saturday 21st May 2011 @ 17.42pm, 28 weeks+2 gestation, weighing just 730 grams (1lb 9ozs) - He was born 11.5 weeks premature.

It costs £3500 a day to look after Freddie in Neo-Natal Intensive Care...he was in hospital for 82 days, a total of £287,000! (6 weeks in Intensive Care and 6 weeks in Special Care)

Background: Prior to birth, Freddie was transferred from Royal Free in Hampstead, London to the NICU (Neonatal Incubation Care Unit) & delivered at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent...the only incubator available, 86 miles away!... We traveled to visit him everyday....& finally, after 35 days & an exhausting 3000 miles, he was transferred to Barnet Hospital, just 4 miles away from home!...Another 6 weeks later, after a total of 12 weeks (82 days) at hospital, Freddie was finally allowed to go home, on oxygen support for his due date - his 0th birthday - on 11th August 2011. He has also had two hernia operations.

We wish to raise money for Bliss Charity, by making our friends aware of his story; to raise awareness of how common and traumatic, premature births are. Using our experience, we want to help other parents...
