Story
I have decided to start the new year by doing something positive. In February, I will be walking up Fyrish everyday to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Trust. This charity is special to me and my family. My brother sadly lost his battle with leukaemia back in August 2005 shortly before his 9th birthday. It left a massive hole in our hearts. I didn’t just lose my brother, I lost my best friend. He was a massive character, funny, kind, caring and was always up to mischief. He still is the bravest boy I have ever met. He never let his illness keep him down.
If I could even help just one person find their match I would be happy. Every 14 minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. For the majority, a bone marrow or blood stem cell transplant is their only chance. About 30% of people can find a suitable donor in their family. However, the other 70% rely on a stranger to save their life. It costs Anthony Nolan £40 to add someone to their register.
I understand that at this time of year we’re all struggling a bit for money. But even the smallest donation would be massively appreciated. Callumn, like many others wasn’t lucky enough to find a match. But so many other people out there are in desperate need to find one. Please give what you can and support this amazing cause.
