Every year FACE (Furzedown Annual Charity Events), through its various local events and sales, would normally raise thousands of pounds for South London MNDA as well as other local charities. 

This year we have not been able to do anything because of Covid-19, (apart from a lovely plant sale) but we would like our Furzedown friends and neighbours to help as our local MNDA branch is really struggling during this crisis. FACE understands we are in strange times and money is tight, but any amount will be much appreciated.

We received this lovely letter from Evelyn, chair of the South London Motor Neurone Disease Association in 2019

“Your support and donations for South London MNDA over the years has truly been amazing and we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for continuing to help people locally with Motor Neurone Disease. Your donations help us to hold six Support Meetings throughout the year. It’s a great way for people with MND, their carers, friends and family members to get together and chat with others in a similar situation, we always have a guest speaker, lay on food and transport if required... You have helped fund items which make such a difference to the quality of life for individuals with this dreadful debilitating disease... Installation of stair lifts, safety adaptations in the home, IT equipment to help people communicate, a Clos-o-Mat - to maintain dignity and independence and even a last holiday for Granny and her grand kids. These are just some of the requests your donations have fulfilled... Thank you and your wonderful FACE gang for your continued support - you really do make a difference.”  

FACE began in 2010 with a group of friends and neighbours helped raise funds by having a Quiz Night in our local church hall in Furzedown, South London. It is wonderful to hear about how the money we raise in Furzedown helps the vital work MNDA does and how well it supports families. We also help The Furzedown Project, Youth Centre and Foodbank as well as St George's Hospital and other local causes. The secret to FACE success being that we have fun as well as raise money and we hope to continue once this crisis is over!
