Story
I chose to support World Jewish Relief for my Bat Mitzvah fundraising project because I feel that it is a charity that links to my Torah portion and the to the Jewish people. For my Bat Mitzvah on the 8th December 2018 I will be reading a section of the Joseph story. In this story Joseph's family (the Israelites, my ancestors) became refugees due to a famine which meant that they could no longer survive in Canaan. They travelled to Egypt as refugees because there was food there and they were accepted by the Egyptian people. I think that all refugees deserve to be accepted into a country because they deserve to be safe, happy and healthy like the Egyptians were able to do for the Israelites
World Jewish Relief coordinates the British Jewish response to international disasters, for example: the current refugee crisis in Europe. WJR has developed programmes in Greece and Turkey to support families fleeing war and persecution in Syria. WJR is also helping Syrian refugees in the UK.
I will be running 5km for WJR with my parents. I love running and being challenged and I think this is going to be a challenge but also I am really excited because it will be really fun and I get to help people in need while enjoying myself at the same time. The hardest part of this isn't going to be the running, its going to make sure that Mum and Dad don't give up and they keep going (they're really lazy and a bit old ;-)).
Thank you for sponsoring me. Please be generous because there are lots of people to help. Thank you for reading the above as you can see I really want to help the refugees.
Thank for your donation,
