Story
A Marathon for Max*
I wanted to complete another challenge this year for Max - as some of you will know, my young son died from SUDEP, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy 10 years ago this June. To mark this passage of time and also being in my 50th year - a goal has been set to compete in the virtual London Marathon on October 3rd - the tag line this year is to "do it your way" - so in completing the 26 mile distance, my way is to walk it (with a bit of running ;0) and I am delighted that a group of my wonderful Mummy friends are going to join with me for this distance along the Dorset coastline. This walk will be a tough but rewarding challenge and our training walks are already underway.
We will walk from Corfe Mullen via Upton Country Park to Sandbanks and then along the promenade to Hengistbury Head & back - we would love for anyone to come down & cheer us on, on our route & I’m sure any refreshments will be gratefully received ;0). I am delighted that both Easy Riders Watersports (Amanda & Andy Gratwick) & Meyers Estate Agents (Becky Peters) are sponsoring our marathon.
Max was treated with the greatest care when he was suffering with Epileptic seizures and associated side effects by the Paediatric and High Dependency Unit at Poole General Hospital and I will forever be in their debt - it is a fitting legacy for Max to try and help raise as much as we can so all children and parents locally can benefit from this unit in the best way possible.
Thank you 🙏
