Thank you for visiting my page.
I am taking part in a challenge that Danielle and I have set ourselves. We are going to run 28K in 28 days, all of February 2021 to raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation.
So, why the British Heart Foundation?
I’m doing it to support my amazing friend Danielle, to whom this charity means a lot. Below is her story...
“In June of 2012 at only 16 years of age and weeks away from sitting my GCSEs at school, I unexpectedly lost my father, Mr John Jackson, who had suffered a fatal heart attack and was unable to be successfully resuscitated.
Little did I know that Father's Day of 2012 would be our last day together as father and daughter, a day with no warning signs or expecting that the worse would happen only 48 hours later, on the 19th June 2012.
Whilst my father was not fortunate enough to have survived and recovered from this attack, I am hoping that by raising funds for the BHF this will enable others in a similar situation to avoid the devastating result my father had experienced.
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the biggest funder of heart and circulatory research in the UK today, providing around £100 million to research every year.
The BHF’s research has given them machines that can restart hearts, the ability to fix arteries in tiny babies, the power to give someone a heart they weren’t born with, and so much more.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.
£24 could pay for 2 hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps, so please give what you can to help me hit my target.”
All donations/contributions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
