Berlin Marathon 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

On Sunday 20th September I completed the Berlin Marathon in 4hrs22mins.

I ran out the first half to plan but then the hot weather and maybe a bit too much Bratwurst got the better of me. I slowed to enjoy it a bit more. The atmosphere was amazing.  Wow!  Around a million spectators lined the route and over 60 bands played out loud!  I will never forget the last kilometre running through the Brandenburg Gate to finish - what a buzz!

Thank you very much for your support.  The fund is up to £735 and still counting...

Thanks to Lisa Bartlett (3.55) who I ran with until half way and her traveling support crew!

And also, a special thanks to my trainer, coach, girlfriend and now fiance Sara for her continued support and encouragement throughout my training and on the day!

Best wishes,

Gareth.
