Gareth Runs Manchester 2017

Asics Manchester Marathon 2017 · 2 April 2017 ·
On Sunday 2nd April 2017 I ran 26.2 miles in the Greater Manchester Marathon for London Youth. I had a brilliant but intense day and was lucky enough to cap it all with a PB 3:35:09. Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me, I will get in touch individually, but I really appreciate your support and help in achieving the £1000 target for London Youth.
You invested in a brilliant well established charity - a network of 280 youth clubs across London which supports and challenges more than 25,000 young people every year. Besides their outdoor education, volunteering and employability programmes, one of the things London Youth does really well is encouraging inactive young people to get involved in weekly sport sessions at their youth club. With so many health and well-being benefits, regular exercise is crucial for all of us, especially young people. I love sport and want young people to have the chance to love it too.
And youth clubs generally are an incredibly important safe space for young people to grow and learn, and connect with others, especially young people who aren't getting everything they need at school.
If you want to find out more about London Youth's work and the challenges facing young people in 2017, google Young People's Capital of the World? and read our recent report published in March.
And the weather's nice out there, why not go for a run today...
