We raise funds for kidney research to ensure your kidneys last a lifetime

Story

The 28th January marks 1 year since I donated a kidney to someone in need, and in-turn, someone donated to my wife Julie.

Where has that year gone?

I proved I could push myself outside of my comfort zone last year by doing a tandem skydive from 11,000ft on 10th July 2021 and helped raise over £1400 for Kidneys for Life.

So what could I do to mark the 1st year anniversary?

Yes, I could write a cheque to Kidneys for Life, but what if I did something far more exciting.

So, on 3rd July 2022 (rearranged from 24th April 2022 due to high winds) I will be doing another tandem skydive at The Black Knights Parachute Centre in Cockerham near Lancaster, but this time jumping from 15,000ft!

The difference is this time, I will be joined by some great friends who I've known for many years (Richard Parker, Martin Dipple, Ken Craig and Adrian Bowlas). They have kindly come forward to face the same challenge, to not only support me but to help raise much needed funds for Kidneys for Life (a charity very close to our hearts).

So, how did all this come about?

My wife of 32 years Julie has Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) and her kidney function had gradually deteriorated to just 12%. So I stepped forward to see if I could donate a kidney to Julie. Whilst I was not a match for Julie, I was asked if I would be interested in donating to the UK Living Kidney Sharing Scheme.

Our circumstances changed overnight in October 2020 when we received a call to say we had been matched.

So here I am, continuing to help raise awareness of kidney disease and raising money for a great cause whilst facing my fear of heights.

Please donate and help me achieve the personal target of £500 for Kidneys for Life.

I cannot thank you enough for your support.

Please share this with your family and friends and on your social media.
