The past couple of months have been pretty wild and I was worried I wouldn’t get a chance to do a CEO Sleepout again this year after promising I’d become a regular after my previous two events in Newcastle and Nottingham.

I’d justified not doing it because I was so busy with ‘life’, but then came across an article in the FT (https://on.ft.com/3QqKlKr). It’s clear this is indeed the right time to redouble efforts to raise awareness about homelessness in the UK.

We all know about the cost of living crisis putting the squeeze on people and we know our public services are severely stretched. But, layered on top of that is a collapse of the private rental market which is seeing landlords sell up properties causing no fault evictions to increase by 40% vs last year. Naturally, this leads to more pressure on services and means the wonderful charities working under the CEO Sleepout umbrella need our help more than ever.

It’s a crazy time in the world and the increased incertainty also perpetuates some of the mental health and drug/alcohol issues that can contribute to homelessness. I know me spending a night ‘under the stars’ with no roof over my head is but the tiniest exposure to the cruel nature of homelessness. However, if you can donate anything to my Sleepout it would be greatly appreciated by me, and will be wonderfully put to work by the beautiful people at CEO Sleepout UK. The numerous Sleepout events have already raised over £3m for frontline charities fighting the good fight in our communities.

I absolutely love cricket 🏏 and will be completing this Sleepout at Marylebone Cricket Club (Lords), the ‘home of cricket’ on 20th November 2023.
