The Battle of the Somme started at 7.30 am on the 1st July 1916 and was meant last just 4 days. On the first day the British Army suffered over 65,000 casualties of whom over 19,000 were fatalities. It wasn't finally called off until 18 Nov 16. Our Somme Poppy run is done in homage to all those who fought during that fateful battle.
