Story
Captain Gaz Case MBE joined The Royal Green Jackets, and subsequently The Rifles, in 1991. His extraordinary talent was quickly identified with his selection for the Sniper Platoon. A born commander he would be selected for promotion to Lance Corporal, with instructors on his JNCO Cadre writing that his command style was firm and fair, something he maintained throughout his long and successful career. His rapid rise through the ranks would seem him take on the roles of Platoon Serjeant, CQMS, Company Serjeant Major and RQMS, with his crowning achievement being his selection as the Regimental Serjeant Major of 4th Battalion, The Rifles. Capt Case was one of the leading lights of his generation and the epitome of a Rifleman.
One of the unifying memories of Gaz is how much he loved the Riflemen and how he would always put them first. The outpouring of condolence messages, fond memories and well-wishes to the family on social media and directly to the family since his passing; is a testament to the man he was and the respect he had earned from all he met.
It is for this reason that The Rifles, on behalf of Gaz's wife Sam and daughter Leonie, are raising funds The Rifles' Regimental Trust, Care for Casualties Appeal and have asked that donations, rather than flowers, are sent from those able to do so.
We will remember him.
Swift and Bold.
