SimplyHealth Great North Run 2018 · 9 September 2018 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So yes, The Great North Run!! It may not be a full Marathon but for someone of my 'build' it's probably going to feel like one!!

I'll be running for the Stroke Association, (I might at some points have to walk a little bit too!!)

Now the important bit...

There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That’s one stroke every five minutes.

The Stroke Association are the UK’s leading charity dedicated to conquering stroke. They rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and to find better treatments.

Even though you are now twice as likely to survive a stroke compared to 20 years ago, stroke is still the fourth single largest cause of death in the UK

It has affected my family and friends! For them I run for the Stroke Association! It's a great charity that offers support and help to those affected by stroke, both physically and emotionally.

Once again thanks for visiting my page, if you can spare a few quid, no matter what the donation size, it WILL make a difference!
