Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia, affecting around 465,000 people in the UK. The term 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms which can include loss of memory, mood changes, and problems with communication and reasoning.

Several years ago, my Grandmother Dulcie (in the picture) was diagnosed with dementia. Over the years, the disease has taken its toll on her and sadly, she no longer recognises any of her family or friends.

I will be running the 2012 Virgin London Marathon to support the Alzheimers Society by raising awareness and raising money so that the charity are able to continue researching this cruel disease. I completed the Cardiff Half Marathon last month and will continue to increase my miles through the winter months in preparation for April...

Please, please dig deep, every bit helps!!
