Story
In 2013 our Nan sadly suffered a stroke which effect the left side of her body and her speech. Although she was 86 years of age she was still outgoing and constantly chatting away. Even after the first stroke she
never stopped smiling, laughing and cracking jokes during her time in hospital. After a substantial amount of time spent in hospital she was moved to a care home. Not visiting her in her own home was a horrible ordeal for us and our family, and was extremely difficult to come to terms with. The home was close to our college and so we would visit nearly every day and sit and tell her stories to make her laugh like she always did for us. After several months there she suffered a second stroke which affected her right side and further impeded her speech. Seeing our Nan in this way was something we wish nobody else would have to go through, it was the worst thing imaginable, she was no
longer able to speak or move. Some months later on our 19th birthday
she was admitted to hospital where she passed away peacefully. In the UK there are more than 100,000 strokes a year, which is around one stroke every 5 minutes. We want to raise as much money as possible in order to further treatment for those who suffer, and to help the families going through what we did. Our Nan was our best friend, and the most caring, funniest and most loving woman in our life and we hope to make her proud with the money we raise.
