As many people know, two years ago I suffered a spinal cord injury. I initially had emergency surgery and then spent 2 months in the Spinal Injury rehabilitation unit in Rookwood Hospital.

During my rehab, I literally had to learn to walk again. It was a massive challenge both physically and mentally, and an incredibly difficult time for me and my family. The Rookwood Spur charity really helped me get through the darkest time of my life.

Their fundraising has paid for each patient to have their own TV by their bed, assisted day trips, social events and much much more. I really appreciated the little comfortable sitting room they provided on the ward. It enabled me to spend time with my husband and children away from my hospital bed.
