Worthing Half Marathon - Kids 3k · 12 February 2017

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire, caring for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes.

Story

Hi I'm George, I'm 12 years old and I am running some races for Chestnut Tree House with my mum (Lyn).

Every Saturday morning I attend Hotham Park in Bognor and take part in the official Parkrun event which is a timed 5 kilometre (k) run around the park with with my mum and around 200 other people. On 29th April 2017 I ran my 33rd Parkrun that's a total of 165k this altogether! My goal is to reach my 50 Parkrun milestone by the Autumn. I also wanted to beat my personal best of 28:28 which I have now done and and my new "PB" is 27:47! Can I get any faster during this challenge?

I'm also running some other, more formal races. On Sunday 12th February my mum ran the Worthing Half Marathon and I am ran the kids 3k race along Worthing seafront.

On the 7th May we are running the Wisborough Green 10k and 5k. We run the first 5k lap together and then my mum has to go round again on her own! I'm not old enough to run the full race.

In the summer when we go on holiday to the Isle of Wight we are hoping to run a "tourist" parkrun at the parkrun there!

I really want to raise as much money as possible for Chestnut Tree House because it is an amazing cause that looks after terminally ill children and their families. Chestnut Tree House are not government funded so they need our donations. Anything you give will be appreciated by the charity.

Thank you.
