Story
We are embarking on a trip down the East coast of Africa from Egypt to South Africa, climbing the highest mountain in every country we go through bar Sudan.
Kit Robathan will start the trip in Egypt, going through Sudan and being met in Ethiopia by George Peake, who will join for the rest of the trip. The aim is to finish in South Africa having passed through Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Mozambique. This route will therefore include climbing mountains such as: Mount Kilimanjaro (5892 metres), Mount Kenya (5199 metres), Mount Stanley (5110 metres) and Ras Dashen (4550 metres). So that people feel like they're getting their moneys worth, we will be carrying all our kit for each climb and not using porters, only a guide. We will also be doing all this in our Jeep Cherokee which is being shipped to Alexandria.
The trip starts on the 20th August when Kit arrives in Egypt and we will hopefully be finished by the 1st of December.
If people are keen to stay updated, there will be the odd post on the instagram page that we have set up: https://www.instagram.com/summit.africa/
And finally, yet most importantly the charity that we are helping to raise money for - Tusk Africa. In our opinion, this is a very worthy cause which is trying to reverse the considerable damage to Africa's ecosystems and in particular, its wildlife.
If you have any spare pennies we would be so grateful for your donations!
