I may have told some of you that I'm off to Kenya for about 12 weeks this summer with International Citizenship Service(ICS). I will be spending my time in the county of Machakos, living within a community with a host family, as part of a larger group of volunteers. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience, especially for someone from Chorley.

I will be going with a charity called VSO, who are one of the respected development charities for ICS.

The reasons for us going to Machakos, is that this part of the country is extremely poor with 62% of residents in abject poverty because of the various difference challenges they face.

Our aim is to go over there and help make a difference to the livelihood of the locals. The emphasis of our work will be educating locals on different aspects of Agri-business, which will in turn allow them to live better, more sustainable and prosperous lives in the future!

So this is why I'm asking for any donations, big or small- they'll all be greatly appreciated and will fund amazing projects in poor regions around the world.

Just to reiterate that the donations don't go towards me and my trip to Kenya.
ICS funds my flights, vaccinations and everything for me out there.

My target is £800 and every penny goes direct to the VSO charity that I'll be volunteering with out there. They will use this vital money to buy resources for the sustainable development programmes they run worldwide.
So your donation will make a real difference!
