Story
So in February my best friend took herself and her Mum on the most incredible adventure they could have ever been on which unfortunately I wasn't able to be a part of. Not that I didn't already realise what a strong and selfless person Ellie is, she showed me that her climbing Kilimanjaro and letting her Mum fly from up there means if you put your mind to something then you can achieve anything and given any opportunity to help a charity that supported her family so much throughout Debbie's illness I'd do it. As soon as Ellie got home I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Here I am. Running the marathon.
As a 17 year old girl your biggest problems in life taking your driving test or choosing what university to go to but for my best friend Ellie her choices weren't as easy because her Mum was diagnosed with MND. Ellie's focus over the next few years became about giving her Mum the best memories and family moments possible for someone living with MND.
January 2018 Debbie sadly gave up her fight which she had put up a bloody good one to say the least. The strength Debbie showed throughout having MND taught me so much, she was the strongest woman I've ever come across yet still managed to be so optimistic, loving, selfless and above all of this, still managed to be the best Mum. She really was and still is a Mum in a million. This ones for you Mummy Sivs and I promise I will always and forever be by Ellie's side on the good days and the bad and support her no matter what. One thing I do know is she is making you proud every single day and will continue too. I am so blessed and grateful to have known Debbie and to have Ellie in my life as she spends most of it looking after everyone else just like her mum would have, she learnt from the best.
From now we can try to support other families who have/had and continue to go through the same journey. Seeing how this charity supported the Sivyer's, has made me want to be able to help and continue support to other families going through the same awful struggle so any donations mean the world to all of us so THANK YOU.
