2017 is the year we both turn 26 and we thought what better way to celebrate this than to run 26 (and a bit) miles!? 

As well as all the obvious reasons for running the London marathon (keeping fit, sense of achievement, fulfilling life goals) my main reason for running this year is to raise money and awareness for a charity that means a huge amount to me. 

My sister, Sydnee, died in September at just fifteen years old. Syds was born with a rare metabolic disorder and fought incredibly hard throughout her whole life - she was the bravest, most inspirational, beautiful person and it was an honour to have been her big sister. 

Due to the severity of her condition Syds spent a lot her life in hospital, both JPH (our local hospital) and GOSH. It was during those times that she was in GOSH and away from home that my family and I could not have been without The Sick Children's Trust. We are extremely grateful to them for providing us with hospital accommodation that allowed us to stay with Syds when she was really unwell.

The Sick Children's Trust provide free, high-quality ‘Home from Home’ accommodation for the families of seriously ill children, as well as emotional and practical support. They are a truly amazing charity that provide an incredible service for up to 146 families every night of the year. 

The charity made it easy for us to be with Syds throughout her final weeks and for that I will be forever grateful. Any donations made are going towards a truly great cause - Amy and I would love your support as we train and prepare for the big day.
