You are probably aware that across the globe, our production of waste is incredibly problematic. Due to our plastic waste, we have polluted the food chain to the point where in the space of 5 weeks, most people have consumed  enough plastic particles to make a clothes hanger. Something needs to be done to reduce our waste and it needs to be done urgently. 

“WasteAid UK is an independent UK charity (non-profit), set up by waste management professionals to share practical and low-cost waste management know-how with communities in low-income countries.” 

The charity not only finds innovative ways to help manage waste, but also uses this as a way to help generate income for those living in impoverished communities. Some of their projects include recycling plastic into paving tiles and giving plastic recycling training to communities. Plastic waste is combatted as communities are taught how to recycle, which also generates jobs for the people within the community. 

After finding out about this charity myself and my friend Heather really wanted to do something to help raise money. We decided that on 3 August** we will try to walk Yorkshire’s 3 Peaks and in spirit of waste management, we will collect any litter that we find on the way.
