Story

Thank you for visiting my page! On the 13th October I will be running 13.1 miles in the Oxford Half Marathon to raise money for the Neuro Intensive Care Unit - St George's Hospital Charity.

On the 21st May this year my Dad collapsed and fell unconscious after suffering from a bleed on the brain (sub-arachnoid haemorrhage) whilst at the gym. He was rushed to St George's Hospital and straight to their specialist Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which is one of few in the country. After rushing straight from my 3rd year medical school exams, we found out that he had suffered the most severe grade bleed and subsequently spent 8 days on life support and a further 6 days in NICU before being stepped down. The expertise and care from this world-class specialist centre saved my dads life, now aiding in his continued recovery. Usually I experience this scenario as a medical student, but being on the other side was a complete eye-opener and shock to the system. The nursing staff on the NICU were phenomenal as well as the medical teams surrounding my dad, their continuous support and respect towards all patients, family and friends was astounding. I think about the other patients on the NICU and their family/ friends daily and would love support raising money for this fantastic facility.

Please give what you can and pop down to Oxford on the day and look out for me in my pink top!
